Cybersecurity Awareness month is drawing to a close, and so our 5-part mini blog series. However, cyber threats aren't going anywhere and you don't need a special month to ensure you are doing your part to protect your data.

Always remember to:

OWN IT. SECURE IT. PROTECT IT.

Previously, we explained why you want to maintain your security features in Part 4 of our blog series, and finally our goal is to educate you with enough cybersecurity information to help you make confident, prepared decisions when it comes to protecting yourself and your business! Let's do a quick recap of all the things we hope you learned.

It's extremely important for you to always check your privacy settings to make sure unwanted people aren't accessing information about you that you don't want them to have. Paying attention to permissions within app settings is also something to keep in mind to avoid access to sensitive data on your phone. Remember, delete old, unused apps as well since that is another way for your information to get shared.

Now that you've successfully learned to own IT, we can recap how you secure IT.
Strong passwords are the best way to keep hackers out! Having a strong password sets the foundation for cyber criminals to stay out and unable to access your private and sensitive data, whether it's personal related or business related. Your best bet is to have a strong password and firewall, secure WiFi networks to restrict who is allowed on there, keep your technology current and don't forget. Backup, backup, backup!

Securing IT is perfected, what about protecting IT?
Staying consistent, even when you don't feel like it, is crucial to avoiding bad habits such as forgetting passwords and other security requirements. Protecting your data requires maintenance, but this doesn't have to be a huge hassle. When you have a trusted managed IT support provider, they help your business by supporting your cybersecurity needs!

We hope you learned something valuable and of good use to help your business stay protected now and in the future, if you need help getting started, be sure to take a look at our social media channels for more tips or check out our trusted IT source!
